Your exact age and the totals below it are calculated the same way a calendar app calculates the time between two dates: your birth date/time and this exact moment. "Years, months, and days" is your age the way people normally say it (calendar-exact, not just total days divided by 365); the total weeks, days, and (if you gave a birth time) hours are the same underlying span of time, just expressed as one single number instead of a mixed year/month/day figure.
Your Chinese zodiac animal is worked out from your birth year, cycling through twelve animals (Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, Pig) in a fixed repeating order. This is a simplification: the traditional Chinese calendar actually starts each new year on a different day in late January or February, so someone born in early-to-mid January or February technically belongs to the previous animal's year. This tool doesn't check that exact boundary and always uses the plain birth year instead - close enough for the vast majority of birth dates, but worth knowing if yours falls right around Chinese New Year.
Your Vedic sun sign is an approximation of the "sidereal" zodiac used in Vedic (Jyotish) astrology, which is shifted from the more familiar Western ("tropical") zodiac by roughly 24 days due to a slow astronomical drift called precession. This tool uses a fixed table of date ranges for that shifted zodiac - it is not a full Vedic birth chart, which would additionally require your exact birth time and location to calculate your Moon sign, ascendant, and planetary positions; none of that is calculated here.
The percentage of an assumed lifespan compares the total days you've been alive to a fixed, illustrative assumption of an 80-year lifespan - a single round number, not a personalized life-expectancy estimate for you. If you're older than 80, this percentage will honestly show more than 100%, not a capped 100%.
As an illustration: someone born on June 15, 1990 at 14:30 (UTC) would, as of when this page was written, be about 36 years, 3 months, and 6 days old - roughly 1,892 weeks, or 13,247 days, or (since a birth time was given) about 317,951 hours since birth. They would be a Horse in the Chinese zodiac and a Gemini in the sidereal Vedic zodiac, and would have lived through roughly 45.3% of an assumed 80-year lifespan. Because this tool always measures against the current moment, the exact numbers you see for the same birth date will keep growing a little every day - that's expected, not a bug.
Because the year/month/day combination you entered isn't a real calendar date - for example, day 31 in a month that only has 30 days, or February 30. Double-check the day and month you entered.
This tool measures the time between your birth date and right now, so a birth date later than today can't produce a meaningful age or elapsed time. Check that the year is correct - a common cause is typing a future year by mistake.
For the great majority of birth dates, yes. The one exception is a birth date in the narrow window around Chinese New Year (typically late January to mid-February) - the traditional calendar's year boundary falls on a different day each year, and this tool uses your plain birth year rather than checking that exact boundary, as explained in "How it's calculated" above.
No - it's only an approximate sidereal Sun sign, based on a fixed date-range table. A real Vedic (Jyotish) birth chart is far more involved: it needs your exact birth time and location to calculate your Moon sign, rising sign, and planetary positions, none of which this simple tool attempts.
It compares your entered birth date/time to the current moment in UTC (Coordinated Universal Time), not your local time zone. For the day-of-week and elapsed-age figures this makes at most a one-day difference right around midnight in your own time zone.
